Amidst the comedy and the crowd laughing I could sense a resistance to laugh to a few moments of the film. And that showed the true position of Indian movie-watching audience.
People are watching and talking about topics that were once considered taboo. I must say this is a good thing, We can observe the audience evolving as the movie is rated UA.
I went to see the movie with my parents and though they hesitated at a few moments, they both enjoyed the movie.
This story is about two couples who are not able to conceive a child and hence decide to take medical help. The story spends the first half introducing the characters and their behavior and reaches the peak conflict just sometime before the interval. The main conflict being the mixup of the sperm sample during the laboratory process of in-vitro fertilization as both the couples have the same second name. One of the couples is Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan, who are a fairly modern working couple living in Mumbai. And the other is Honey and Monica Batra,
Played by Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani, a Punjabi couple from Chandigarh. A happy go lucky and a very jolly couple. The real essence of the movie is the contrasting character arc of both couples.
It’s really amazing to witness how the movie tries to hit all subjects that are important to be talked about but we usually don’t. My favorite moment from the film was when Akshay Kumar hits a joint** as he is stressed out by the intervening Punjabi couple. His acting throughout that sequence is spot on and gives the audience a great laugh! I found Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani to be really talented actors and their on-screen time was really enjoyable!
Final Thoughts:
This movie has all the emotions, at one point you’ll laugh out loud and the other second you’ll feel like crying, Seeing the chemistry between the couples makes it feel very real.
It has a subtle message but in my opinion, this is not a film that is trying to give a message or anything. Yes, its really making us comfortable with some topics but this movie is to really make you laugh and entertained.
Loving these reviews dude!
